Marketing & Publicity

As a Project Manager at Ooligan Press, I was responsible for developing and enacting marketing plans, creating press kits, planning launch events, and so much more, working in very close proximity to our Marketing & Publicity Department. Outside of Ooligan, I also have a wealth of experience in tourism event planning—from creating itineraries and leading tours, to planning and promoting county-wide events. Though not all of these tasks lend themselves to being showcased in a portfolio, you will find much of my work highlighted on this page. Below, you can see examples of marketing plans, designed tipsheets, press kits, and more.

Press Kits

Press kits can look very different! Publisher and book branding, genre and audience considerations, and industry focuses can do a lot to impact how a press kit is created. Generally, press kits from publishers include basic information about the book, a press release, and bios for the authors (and illustrators). They can also include additional sections, such as advanced praise for the book, author tours, author interviews, discussion questions about the book, and more. Below are two examples of press kits I’ve created. The first was designed for an adult mystery/thriller novel by Ooligan Press. The second was created for an illustrated nonfiction children’s nature guide from Gibbs Smith.

Designed Tipsheets

Generally, a tipsheet is a 1-2 page document created by publishers for distribution to trade professionals. Also called sales sheets, tipsheets are used by sales and publicity teams in order to obtain advanced reviews, gain bookstore placements, encourage trade orders, and secure partnerships. Below are two examples of tipsheets I’ve created and designed, also for Ooligan Press and Gibbs Smith.

Marketing Plans

At Ooligan Press, marketing plans include so much more than just audiences, blurbs, reviews, and promotion. They also house a book’s hook and back cover copy, BISAC and Thema Codes, comparative titles, SEO keywords, awards for consideration, etc. In short, they are the backbone of a book’s entire production timeline. Below, you can view the marketing plan for Echoes of the Lost, which I produced with input and support from my team.

Launch Events

On May 12, 2026 the official launch event for Cindy Brown’s latest mystery/thriller novel Echoes of the Lost was held at Annie Bloom’s Books in Portland, Oregon. As the Project Manager for this title, I was responsible for securing the venue, coordinating with the author, promoting the event, and providing day-of event management services.
