I am an accomplished and experienced researcher, with a focus on European fairy and folk tales (as well as their modern retellings) and queer literature. On this page, you can read the two most representative examples of my writing and researching abilities. The first, “More Than Just Survival Literature: The Influence of Midcentury Lesbian Pulp Fiction on Contemporary Romances” explores the cultural impacts and importance of 1950s and ’90s lesbian pulp fiction, as well as the ways in which the genre influences contemporary lesbian romance novels. The second, “An Old Tale Given New Life: Queer Possibility (and Probability) in Little Red Riding Hood and Its Retellings” offers summary, background, and queer analysis of Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s classic “Little Red Cap” and Charles Perrault’s “Little Red Riding Hood,” as well as retellings from Angela Carter, David Kaplan, and Julie Marie Wade.
