Editorial

During my time at Ooligan Press, I gained experience in a number of editorial realms—from copyedits, to print proofreads, to developmental edits. I have chosen to highlight the latter on this page for a number of reasons. First, a developmental edit letter is the easiest to share in a cohesive, single-file manner. Second, because the recommendations given in developmental letters are somewhat vague without broader context from the full manuscript, they allow me to protect and respect the author’s copyrighted or unpublished materials. Finally, I think they’re the most fun!

When Women Write Tomorrow

Below, you will find my developmental edit letter for When Women Write Tomorrow, a nonfiction manuscript exploring contemporary French science fiction stories written by women authors. This letter focuses primarily on recommendations involving the manuscript’s purpose, framework, audience, structure, and use of quotations.

Bert & Eileen

Below is my developmental edit letter for Bert & Eileen, a work of contemporary literary fiction exploring the ways in which alcohol use disorder can impact family structures. This letter focuses primarily on recommendations involving the manuscript’s setting, characters, plot, and narration.
